PLAY AT THE PLATE

JANUARY 2016 NEWSLETTER

Dear Players,

Hope you had a great Holiday Season and a safe brining in of the New Year!

A lot to talk about, so here we go….

In just over 4 weeks we will be holding our first event of the year at the Buck O’Neil Complex in Sarasota Florida. It’s the Orioles minor league camp with major league trimmings. You’ll love it. Great locker room, 4 pristine fields, state of the art batting tunnels, lunch on site in their cafeteria the whole nine yards.

If you didn’t get into the hotel we recommended give a call and I will see if I can still get you in. We should have at least 6 teams for this event. We are waiting to hear from some of the local teams as to whether or not they are joining us.

We will be the last group at the facility before the Orioles begin their Spring Season.

9 weeks later we return to event that put us on the adult baseball map, The 13th Annual Palm Beach Classic at Roger Dean Stadium and Complex in Jupiter Florida. The dates again are April 7-10 with an early arrival practice on Wednesday the 6th.

We have added a new hotel to the mix. As some of you know there is a new Marriott Courtyard directly across the street from the entrance to the Roger Dean. We tried last year to get a block of rooms but were unable to get a good rate.

Well they approached us this year with a comparable rate to the other hotel we use the Embassy Suites in PB Gardens. We love the Suites, and will continue to stay there because of the free breakfast, happy hour etc. and the fact its only one exit away on I-95….but if real convenience is what you are looking for…The Marriott is across the street. I will also try and set up some dinner specials in Abacoa for our campers so all they have to do is walk around the little village and relax every evening. The hotel listings on our site.

Many of you have been asking when the 4th Annual Rickwood Classic in Birmingham Alabama will be held. We just got the confirmed dates and they are June 24-26. I love that field. If you have not had the chance to play there yet, what are you waiting for? We can only take 4 teams and 2 have committed so far. Regardless if you are on a team, with a small group or alone….you owe it to yourself to play ball in America’s oldest park.

We put out a little sniff concerning the possibility of going to Holland to play ball this August. After discussing at length with several organizers in Holland we decided it would be better to have the trip in the summer of 2017. I won’t do a rush job. It will be an all-inclusive trip. The good news is there are 5 or 6 ball parks scattered throughout the Netherlands that are awesome. We will get there! So as far as an international trip this year we will go back to beautiful Tokyo in September and play at the Tokyo Dome again.

We had hoped by now to announce a new venue for this coming June, but the final details are not in stone just yet for the Twin Cities Classic. We hope to be playing at the new home of the Saint Paul Saints, CHS Field and then finish it up with a couple of games at Target Field.  We’ll send the email out as soon as we finalize the last details. Hopefully next week. There are only 60 spots available, so when it goes out reserve your space.

Well it finally got cold here in the Northeast, so my chores outside are done…heads up for some email promotions and keep an eye out for the Minnesota gig…

As always thanks for your support of PATP and we hope to see you in 2016!!
