Dear Players,
Hope this email finds you and your loved ones doing well and ready for the Holidays. The weather here on Long Island has been extremely mild for this time of year and the Christmas spirit just hasn’t sunk in quite yet…
I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your continued support of Play at the Plate. In 2015 we added 2 new venues, Newport and Toledo that were well attended and well received. We hopefully will be adding 2 new exciting places to play in 2016…more on that in a minute.
A few weeks ago we put out a sniff about the possibility of playing baseball in Amsterdam, Holland. It was very well received and we feel we could have a group of 12-14 players to form a team and play some games against good Dutch competition. That possibility is now a probability. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are 5 quaint beautiful baseball stadiums in the Netherlands. Along with many other first class recreational facilities to play at make this a no brainer. The question is, can we get it all together for a trip this coming August. I am working on it, but will not proceed unless everything is in place. If it does not happen this coming year it certainly will in 2017. So keep your eyes on future emails with details. I’m hoping for this year.
The second new destination of 2016 is Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have agreed to in principal with the Saint Paul Saints for a 2 or 3 day event in their beautiful brand new park, CHS Field. But the news gets better…..thanks to my working relationship with both the Saints and Twins from the ASG Camp with MLB a few years ago, I have convinced the Twins to come on board with this trip for a day at Target Field. Negotiations with the Twins are ongoing but quite favorable. If this trip interests you, (I know it does with a group from Sioux Falls) pencil in June 11-13. Yes the 13th is a Monday…I think this could be announced right after the holidays. We will treat it like any other MLB Camp….4 teams of 15…..tickets to games etc. 2 great venues, great city and the best steakhouse ever…Murray’s….
Well it’s December 14th and it’s 58 degrees outside, guess I’ll get some hacks in at the batting cage.
Again, my heartfelt thanks for your support, and I wish you all a Happy, Safe and Joyous Holiday Season and New Year!
Peace…
Greenie
