PNC ParkDear Players, Hope this finds you and the teams you root and play for in good shape. My Cardinals are barely hanging on. Thank God they have an easy schedule the final 60 games. But I don’t think they are a threat to go all the way this year even if they make the playoffs. Speaking of the Major Leagues, as most of you know we have an extremely busy month.

This time next week we will be at beautiful PNC Park in Pittsburgh for 2 full days of great baseball in one of the best parks in the nation. Unbelievably we still have a few spots left. Registration closes Wednesday Aug. 4 at noon.

Then later this month the first of 2 trips to historic, ivy covered, friendly confined, small locker roomed, Wrigley Field. This trip is sold out but our second trip in late September (26-27) still has spots left.

Wrigley FieldWe are going to put out one more email to our clients and contacts, and then we are going public. All the details are on our site. I doubt seriously that we will ever have the chance to play there again. So if you are a Cubbies fan, or want the ultimate baseball experience, now is the time to sign up.

As you probably know I ran the MLB Fantasy Camp at the All Star Game this past month. It was a great experience for us and quite a feather in the cap for PATP. The former players who served as coaches were great to work with, in particular Tim Salmon, Bobby Grich, Willie Fraser and funny man and camp commissioner Jon Warden. Jon and I are hoping to hook up somewhere down the road at one of our events. Thanks guys for making it so enjoyable.

Tomorrow I will be meeting with good friends, John Alutto and Ray Vorhees at the dedication of the Ray Lammie dugouts at the Sunrise Children’s Camp up the Island. We are getting great interest for this event in late September. There will be a player pool, but this will be a team oriented event. I think we’ll have 12-20 teams. The net proceeds will go to the camp in Ray’s name.

Roy Yocum Classic
Also please don’t forget another great charity event in Cincinnati Labor Day weekend the 5th annual Roy Yocum Memorial Classic. Go to our site for the info and contact numbers. I hope to be there this Labor Day with good friend Gene Rueckert and the boys.

JoeYesterday the team I play for on here on Long Island qualified for their fifth or sixth straight finals in the 35 and over wood bat division. We have never hoisted the trophy!! It’s time; I want to now "Joe Namath" this event and guarantee we will win this thing….

And finally a quick line or two about a good client and a better friend: Livio Forte. Livio lives here on Long Island and has been a client of ours almost from the beginning. This past week he’s treated me to Cards vs. Mets game at Citi Field, splurged for the overly expensive dinner in the upscale Acela club there, (I know it’s expensive, I took my daughter there two days later) and just yesterday after an amazing tour of his memorabilia room of Mets history he gave me several high end items for our silent auction which benefits the charity we support, Cleats for Kids, for PNC.

Last month Livio brought several items to Cleveland, one of them a game used base from the last year at Shea. The clubhouse attendant Willie Jenks really wanted the base and was certain he had won it with several minutes to go. Well Willie lost out in the closing moments and was heart broken. The Mets were coming to Cleveland the next week and he wanted to get the base signed by some players. When Livio heard of this, he sent another base to Willie a few days later in time for the Mets series. My six plus years of making baseball my life’s work has brought me to many fine people associated with baseball, perhaps non finer than Livio………..

Have a great safe August, speak to you soon……………….Greenie

P.S. Join us on our PATP Facebook page…..
