I became a Cardinals fan during the 64 season. I was 9 at the time and can still remember the day Lou Brock came to the Cards for Ernie Bruglio. (June 15) The Cards went all the way that year, after the Phillies collapsed in the final 2 weeks of the season. Well my boys have an 8 and half game lead right now with 16 to play. The magic number is 9, but we’ve lost 5 of 6. All tough games. The Cubbies are coming to town for 3 this weekend. I am not in a panic mode by any stretch, but to read the St. L. papers, you’d think they were on the Titanic. Take a deep breath and kick some Cubbie ass….If Smoltz, Carpenter and Wainwright can’t get it done this weekend, then I’ll start worrying. (big time) Also, keep an eye on the Tigers and Twins the next few weeks. They play 7 times. Never count out the Twinkies.
Exactly what I said in the last post. I’d be a LOT happier with an 8 game lead. The Tigers must win 9 of the last 16 games and the Twinkies must win 13…………..of 15………….don’t think that will happen.
